TMW you're asked to arrive one hour earlier at the office, so it can look "busy and innovative" to investors.

Some of us are just the toys very rich people play with.

It's all about playing the game. You gotta look at it from their perspective - how would investors (the people cutting your paycheck) feel if they came to an office that was half empty or with people just lounging around playing ping pong?

@xroad I don't know what investors look for, but when I was looking for a job out of school I wanted to find a place where the emphasis was on technical mastery and not keeping up appearances... I think you could sell that to investors too... have the boss tell the suits that half your team was up until 2 to finish up their delivery... that would seem both authentic and give the impression of being "busy and innovative" without wasting everyone's time

@ReturnVoid Exactly. Because everyone in the office do play ping pong all day when investors "are not looking". And I know the company is not delivering value to them. So what's the point?

If I were the investor, I would love to see how an innovative space actually looks like and what do people build there. But in my case, we're just being told to behave ourselves because papa is coming to visit.
