Musicians have to make money too you know. So indeed, get off the platform

what's the big deal just use the app?

Imagine getting mad at a company for banning leaches 😱😱

Are they also threatening to ban paying users who happen to have an ad blocker running? Because that would actually be dumb
  • 9
@svgPhoenix Would be weird because paid users don't have ads

@svgPhoenix If a paid user is dumb enough to have an ad block on at the same time, they might deserve it.

That's like going to a restaurant, ordering food and then throwing it away as soon as you get the food... Makes 0 logical sense to do that lol

@Stuxnet I keep ad blockers on everywhere I can. Not for blocking ads that aren't intrusive anyway, but for blocking trackers.

@svgPhoenix shit forgot about that lol

@Stuxnet I've tried Spotify, liked Pandora's experience better, and now I'm glad I don't actually have to worry about being banned from something I pay for :p
  • 4
@svgPhoenix I've genuinely never heard someone say they like Pandora more.

    This is a first

@svgPhoenix @Jifuna they ban only non-paid user. Iif you paid they dont ban you for adblock.

@stop good. @Stuxnet honestly, Spotify is just too complicated and inconsistent with what you can do, where you can do it, and how you do it. Pandora has the *exact* same experience with the same feature set on every platform. Not to mention Spotify is just awful at when it comes to "stations." They're playlists lying to you about being playlists, and they don't even recommend music half as well as Pandora anyway.
  • 2
@Jifuna you are right but we sadly dont make money of spotify anyway. Well apple music is even worse

@svgPhoenix cant say about this. Pandora is not available in germany.

    @musician I know, it's a sad. Nice name btw.

I prefer pandora too, it had less music but was better at a radio then Spotify being stuck in a bubble of music/genres, but since they pulled out of Australia and playing over VPN became buggy I had to turn to Spotify.

As for the ads, artists have bank accounts too.
Welcome to the, you get it free, but Spotify still pays the music industry regardless model.

I didn't realize Pandora is unavailable in so many places. Weird. maybe that's why they're not growing as well as Spotify.

    Here a screenshot from google

@svgPhoenix Pandora stations are better, but I dislike stations, and personally prefer a playlist of songs I like, that way I don't have to deal with a lot of songs I hate and not being able to skip but a finite amount

@svgPhoenix Nope. Only free users. Which is very understandable imo.

@Stuxnet so you’re saying users are paying for the ads? The analogy doesn’t add up imo.
  • 3
@Nachfolger 1) There's no ads in the paid version. I use it daily and have used it daily for almost a year and a half

    2) the analogy is supposed to be like "you pay for something and then completely counteract that." Because the whole point of premium Spotify is no ads. What's the point in paying for it then running an adblock to block ads.

@musician well, music sales don’t pay in general. It’s promo that gets you gigs if you’re good enough.
