Way too many. If you do t have to do iOS app development just skip Xcode entirely and install just the Xcode commandline tools and then homebrew as a package manager.

I do react native. So I’m not sure. I just need the simulator tbh.

Might try swift at some point tho

Okay, I’m a Linux and Mac sysadmin so Im not super familiarwith the ins and outs of IDEs like Xcode but I’ve found for our developers workflow is pretty good without it. I’ll talk to our react dev tomorrow and ask him about the simulator, see what he has to say.

I don't think Simulator can be downloaded without XCode. and if you are facing troubles downloading it from AppStore, just go to: http://developers.apple.com/downloa...

Download it from there, you will lose benefit of updating via app store, but at least it will be downloaded. I failed to download it from the store a lot of times

    It's distributed as a binary.

So if Apple has a new version, it can't just be a module, you have to download the whole thing every time.

@al-m He doesn’t have to use it for this work but spoke highly of it, along with complaints of using Xcode generally due to all the bloat. I’d say you’re probably doing it right for what you need. I don’t think we’re hiring react developers right now, but keep plugging. You have valuable skills someone needs somewhere!
