No.
Never use Godaddy.
I have nightmares about their services and hosting every night. -
Kaji22626yI've been using 1&1 for close to 15 years. They've got decent Cloud VPS options available that give you full control over the server for the same as what you'd pay for a lot less over at GoDaddy.
-
Don't ever use GoDaddy. They have bad support, try to lock you into their system by preventing transfers to other registrars, have higher prices than others, and in general are just shady fucking dicks.
-
Kaji22626yAlso, regarding domains: If you are *thinking* about getting a particular one and find it available, *grab* *it* *now*.
Aside from the general land-grab of a new TLD opening up, many registrars (GoDaddy is one I've heard cited in particular) will actually put domains you've browsed but not bought on hold so they can "auction" them to you at inflated rates down the line. Worst you have to lose is one year's hosting fees for getting something you think you might be interested in, and depending on the place's refund policy you might even be able to get that back if you change your mind. -
In movies, "come to daddy" usually ends in having one's gut ripped out. The right reaction is to RUN and escape before dusk sets in! Also, throw garlic behind you, just in case!

I've helped people that have had their basic hosting package. It's horrible. Very slow and if your server resources are maxed, users won't get to your site.
I use Bluehost for most of my projects. -
Why the fuss everyone? I'be been using godaddy for like 5 years or so. Can't complain
-
I've used them for about 6 years now too. Only because they're one of the few places that does .nz and I've had no problems either. Their customer service is horrible though!
-
@netikras It works until you have anything performance intensive or have to use htaccess files.
-
@PrivateGER how the hell is a domain name related to performance??? Its not like we're talking about their nameservers, are we?
-
I don't wanna support shady practices: https://techrepublic.com/google-amp...
That's not what hosting is supposed to do... -
Agred20366yThanks for help, people. I went with NameCheap and now I'll have to learn some Web Development 😀

Is GoDaddy any good? I've seen that Google has opened .dev domains floodgate and I was wondering about starting my own page. Dunno which hosting service to choose and if I even should make my own website considering I'm not a Web Dev 😅
