Me: Why are all the devs leaving work early!?
Other devs: Microsoft Services are down.
Me: Okay I'll start packing.1 -
Anyone worked with WordPress + React?
I'm trying to think how I can host WP as my back-end and React as my front-end.
Currently I'm thinking of hosting them separately as two different domains as the back-end can be called as an API by the front-end.6 -
Pretty much how I feel as a software developer when someone asks me why their printer doesn't work. 😂8

Just watching Google io and I swear the new Google Assistant just passed the Turing test?
The assistant called and made a haircut booking over the phone with a human and it seemed so human like!
Turing test is to determine between a machine and human right?4 -
Are Junior devs meant to be put on solo projects or does my company just have a large expectation of us?4

When you want to develop android apps but forever banned from publishing on Google Play for impersonating yourself...11

My company insists on working in one production environment to save time and every time I try to convince them to set up a work flow with a dev and test environment, they tell me we don't have the time...
Even after I set one up anyway as I'm scared shitless to touch production. They tell me it's faster doing it all in one environment.
They launch an update. Site buggy as hell and doesn't load 90% of the content...
Sigh....4 -
That amazing feeling when you spend hours on a problem and felt like giving up a few times and you finally solve it!
Never give up!1 -
Friend sees me learning React js.
Friend: "Why are you always studying? Your exams are over and you already have a job."
Me: "Because I don't know it and it looks interesting?"
Friend: "What a waste of time..."
I try to upskill myself and friend gives me shit.
He's the type of guy that would watch a 5min YouTube video on a topic and suddenly become an expert in it.
I believe that a day without new knowledge is a waste of a day.
Dont know if that's normal or I'm just weird. But I still stand by it.24 -
Overheard some coworkers during lunch.
Coworker1: "fuck net neutrality! We'll make our own internet! With strippers and poker!"
Coworker2: "9gag?"
Coworker1: "9gag!"3 -

Senior dev from another team comes up to me:
"you alright? Looks like you're struggling with something. Want me to give you a hand?"
And my personal favourite:
"feel free to slack me whenever you need help. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Only way to learn is to ask"
He also recommended me some books and resources to read.
I left work today motivated af!1 -
Starting to develop a phobia of asking for help from senior devs since I can now sense their face-palm whenever I open my mouth.
Maybe I'm not ready to work as a junior dev yet...9 -
Product gets launched in 2 hours. Just casually updating the documentation. Nice chill day. Everything tested and validated.
Then some random f**king designer comes barging in vomiting all these "necessary" features to the product owner.
This was yesterday. The designer and product owner are currently complaining to us devs that there are bugs everywhere...
I need a beer.3 -
That horrible feeling that you're holding the team back as a junior dev.
What took me two days of struggle, it took the senior dev a glance to solve the issue.
Literately took them less than 10seconds to complete the task which I spent two days both at work and after work of debugging and research to try and solve.
Why are they paying me to work here.9 -
Anyone know why a button appears on Firefox and not other browsers?
More details:
I'm currently improving a software made by another developer and can't seem to figure out why these two buttons appear in an input form for Mozilla Firefox and not other browsers. I can't seem to find the code that causes this anywhere in the source code.
The buttons are up and down, and allow users to increment or decrement the value in the form.3 -
When me and my team put all efforts into making a functional app and the top 3 winners only had a PowerPoint with wireframes of their app.

What's the funniest advice you've ever received from a co-worker?
Mine is: "Always code like someone with a short temper and a machete will be reviewing your code"2
