I want to delete facebook account. Can anybody give me reasons not to delete it or delete it right away?

P.S: want to connect with real developers community.

    If you can't stop using it, what is going to stop you from creating another account?

    @asgs i am just scrolling++ 😂 and i have not posted anything for 2 years now. Sometimes it feels like it is a time waste but sometimes not because of dev. Groups that i've joined.

    Why would you delete it?

    They probably have your entire profile now so no point in doing that except if you're changing your identity

    @netikras because i don't want to socialize with fb connections anymore and it feels like time waste. Just uninstalling fb app doesn't work for me. 🤣

    @chiraganand sooo the only way is to delete stuff? If you no longer want to talk to some person at work/school you do what? Kill [delete] him?

    If you dont want to socialize then don't socialize.. Why delete?

    @netikras Because they might actually delete the data like they're legally required to. It's a very small chance, but it's there.

    I use Facebook strictly for family, extended family, friends. My professional network cluster is separate.

    I haven't gone to Facebook for 3 years. Deleted it recently after moving all my friends to whatsapp or LinkedIn. Main purpose is like you said, getting rid of 1 of the time wasting (I'd personally also add "garbage") social network that brings no benefits. So you'll hear no persuasion from me to keep this app. :)

    Deactivate it, if you are not sure.

    Can't speak for you of course but my main reason for deleting my account back in the days was because of the Snowden revelations.

    I'd recommend deletion!

    I killed my Facebook months ago - haven't missed it. In fact, I've been much happier and more productive without it.

    I deleted mine 4years ago.

    But deleting on Facebook only means they tell you that they deleted your data, but you know that that asshole Zuckerberg keeps it.

    Think you can trust him? Just ask the Winklevoss's

    Hahaha😄

    @Root

    It’s funny because they mentioned something about even having “shadow accounts” for people that don’t have an account that stores data about them. I forgot how it works and if it’s still a thing but they mentioned it before and it’s edgy so I don’t see a point in deleting the account

    @Bubbles yeah, they do that.

    @Root yeah so I don’t see a point in trying to escape by deleting your account cause it’s not like they even delete it or even if they do they still have shadow you so there’s no point

    I did it once, couple years ago, but my spotify account was made with facebook oauth. So I restored it

    I was too lazy at the moment(I'm still am) to search if it could be unlinked and whatnot.

    Delete it and never look back
