epse36616yThat's just awful. Would immediately give me the creeps and the feeling of being a number working for a robot
-
goddamn, the entire paragraph sounds like written by a robot lawyer...
EDIT: your tags are on another level -
Sounds more like a questionnaire that they want you to fill rather than an interview, or a supplement to your CV. I would expect this to lead to a real interview afterwards.
-
karma110516yI would ask the questions within the video, and stick a super awkward minute of silence after in after each one while you stare into the cameras oblivion (this gives them time to reply and interact)
And just like bandersnatch make the video interactive with different end results so they are just as confused and fucked up as said made request 😂 like WTFF -
Oh fuck that. What a terrible sign for what's to come! No doubt management will never have time for you.
Interviews are bidirectional. They re not only a company evaluating a potential employee, but also an employee evaluating a potential employer.
I would only apply if it were my only option and my family was starving. -
they want just a slave that does what he was told.. not a problem solver and someone trying to exchange knowledge (and benefits) with his environment.. that's a supreme level of crap
-
rui9024226yI met a lady working on something similar and I heard about some plans to incorporating this on some bit platforms. I don't think it's a one way interview, more like a way to "avoid talking with unnecessary people" and wasting time with people who are clearly not a match but you keep talking to be polite.
Not sure if this is the case, but I'm in the HR tech business and I also feel like there's no tech that can replace at least one interview with an actual person from the team... -
rui9024226yI think it could be fine in that case, but not if it's a requirement... some people wouldn't feel confortable recording video, and I hate cameras, so I'm sure I would send the derpiest me (or not send any at all most likely) and end up not getting the job
-
Root825996y@rui902 That's my fear too.
But mostly I'm just angry. My every interaction with this company has been completely impersonal.
1) I receive a form letter saying they're interested in my resume -- no clue where they got it -- and asking if I'm interested in x position. I say yes plus a calculated amount of enthusiasm.
2) I receive a form letter asking me to answer questions in an email to show I'm interested in x position. I answer them and give stories to illustrate my points and show I'm friendly.
3) I receive a one-way interview request email from a third-party service, and a form letter indicating I will receive the aforementioned email because "they value both of our time. You have a week to complete this task."
I'm pretty asocial, but what the crap. Even I'm more friendly and engaging than this, and I hate people. -
as others said, its probably meant to be a questionary, although the video part makes it, slightly creppy.
It also forgets the most important thing, an interview is, by definition two-way. Companies are quickly to forget that, as the applicant, try to sell themselfes. Its not slavelabour, there is a negociation going on, both sides have to be equally convinced that there is a good deal in it.
In the real world this holds not very true, most humans have economic contrains but, if you are not in the direst of situations, i guess this is a pass. They tell you "we value you just as slave and you are not worthy to us" which is always true but normally they arent so upfront of that.
Depending on how interconnected businesses are in your part of the planet, make a video where you just flat out call them out that they dont know what interview even means and that this is unfair and demand a proper interview. Tone varying on your politeness and judgement. -
jthm3116yLike the others pointed out it could be to filter out candidates more quickly
But the way you described the whole process going so far I kinda doubt it 🤔
I imagine you not getting told where the actual workplace is and then on the first day you get a message like "type into your navi... Or go to the subway and ride to ... Go off on station ..." Till you are finally in an empty office building with only a receptionist 😂 -
Root825996y@toriyuno Yep.
That of course sells your information. Their privacy policy is horrible. And the company in question already provided them with my information, so there isn't much I can do. -
rui9024226y@Root what kind of job are you looking for? I'm working on an HR tech startup and we do have a few clients looking for software engineers of different kind, maybe it's worth the shot 😂
-
Root825996y@rui902 Rails and/or React/Vue.
Full-stack preferred, but I can do frontend and backend almost equally well. -
Root825996y@rui902 Las Vegas, NV.
And yes, though it depends on where.
Here's my email if you would like to talk: root-devrant@tuta.io -
Pickman6566yOh god. That must be awesome for the HR. I can only imagine the shit people come up with.
-
Root825996y@rui902 Still awaiting an email filled with crazy-lucrative remote Rails jobs, a juicy starting bonus, and a fully-furnished office in my neighborhood 😋
-
You... You could just respond with " that's nice. I've provided you with a link to record answers to a series of questions for you as an employer. Feel free to complete them at your earliest convenience before the deadline."
I hope you did that. That'd be a baller move. -
@Root DO IT!
Omg this would be the shiz!!! I wonder how they'd react. It doesn't even have to be via a website functionality you'd have to build, just tell them to send you the video! -
rui9024226y@Root im not offering anything except what the companies we work with are offering 😂 you tell me if you're interested or not!
I'll send it today! 😅 -
@AlgoRythm
Modern management is mostly supervision, not management.
Supervisors are glorified babysitters.

What the fuck is this one-way interview bullshit?
"The organization you are interviewing with has come up with a series of interview questions that they have requested you to respond to. This is an on-demand interview which means that you'll be recording your video interview answers at your convenience as long as you submit them before the deadline." -- sparkhire.com
Like seriously?
What if I have questions? I have plenty, and I find those questions considerably more important than whatever bullshit gotchas the company wants to annoy me with.
One-way interview.
Fucking really.
At least have the decency to talk to me.
