I would really like to know why Google decided that it will only show me video ads for one specific brand of cereals and freaking feminine hygiene products. I have a freaking google home and a chromecast, there is more than enough info for them to know that I am NOT a woman. I never searched for feminine higiene products nor talked about them. Like wtf Google.

I think Hulu found out I'm interested in cyber security.

They keep giving me ads about IBM security shit lol

@Stuxnet oh yea, I get ads for servers and network equipment all the time... but these are video ads and they are really annoying

I used to fight targeted ads, but I gave up and it's actually nice to see shit you're interested in vs random stuff.

Used to get ads on Instagram for events on the other side of the country. But now I see shit that's actually relevant. Like contests for concerts near me, ads about events near me, etc.

Still get some about music festivals a few states over, but at least the genre is relevant lmao

@Stuxnet yea... I still get ads for music festivals on an entirely different continent but that's fine I guess

I continue to mess with the algos. Getting ads for multi-million dollar homes, and Maserati's new Levante SUV. 0-60 in 2.3 seconds. Noice. I've also noticed that I get a lot of ads targeted at the business elite community. I'm still hoping that they know something I don't, I hope I learn what it is soon. I could get used to being around they planet on business deals.

Damn you guys are lucky. For some reason google is too stupid to give me relevant ads. On yt I usually watch either maths videos, programming videos, some physics here and there, gaming videos. But no, I get ads from that one person that wants to "Help me build my own business, for free". Hell no. Sometimes they give me other persons that want to help me with the same shit but fuck no. I disliked that single ad literally 10 times already. EVERY ad is that one. And they dont want to learn that I'm not interested in that bs. Like just give me ads for games or something. Or even that ebay ad, because they at least have got a good looking woman in there. But hell no, google, shut up with your gay porn build your own business ads.

@GTom ye. I got them all on my pc and everywhere else but on my phone that doesnt work. Using a browser is not an option. NewPipe loading forever on the wifi that is accessable from my bed. Youtube app somehow bypasses everything.

@b3b3 Youtube Vanced + Firefox if you use Android

    @b3b3
Checkout YouTube Vanced, one should be able to install it even without root.

I can't imagine seeing ads in YouTube and without dark mode :D (I don't even know if vanilla YouTube app has dark model

@GTom vanilla has a "dark mode" but they slap your face with a bright white screen everytime you open it.
Going to try Vanced now, thx

Kiwi browser for android - chromium browser with extensions (faster then Firefox)

@GTom PiHole did not work for me for YouTube and there is no adblocker for Chromecast

@bytecode Check Youtube Vanced. Idk about chromecast. In browser I use ad blocking extensions.

@GTom Nope, I need the official YouTube app to keep the ability to use my Chromecast... And there is nothing you can do to prevent Chromecast from displaying ads. I doubt Pihole would work since it did not even work with the YouTube Android app... And I am also not going to try it just to see what happens, the only Pi3 I have is running a media server and providing a wifi access point for my Google Home Mini and the Chromecast

Edit: Oh, yea, I forgot to mention, I watch YouTube on my secondary monitor 95% of the time (be it using the Chromecast of just my PC when it is running // obv. I don't get ads on my PC thanks to uBO)

@bytecode I see, well only one thing- is the chromecast that little screen like icon in right corner when you are on the same wifi with some cast enabled (clever) TV/Screen? (And when you click it you can choose device) If yes then that 100% works on Vanced, just sayin.
