Any suggestion on (pls, cheap) books that'd enable me to understand the unix/Linux environment in its most fundamental level?

I do use Linux for some 10 years already, but just now I moved to a distro that doesn't do everything to me. So my basic idea is to get the basics so I'd have the least problems when transitioning to other distros/*ix systems, so pls, the less its distro specific, the better or is.
Thx

Operating systems design and implementation by Tannenbaum is a book on Minix and Unix I bought off Amazon. You can usually find old college syllabi online and pick up previous editions of the course books for pennies on the dollar. Both my OS books were about 20 bucks combined.

Linux from Scratch aka LFS is very good book and one of the best ways to kill a week at first time.

I'm curious to know why you switched to a different distro? If the one you liked did everything you wanted, why would you switch? 🤔

@drRoss learning. Ubuntu and Debian weren't challenging enough
