I wanted to know a few suggestions of cheap/easy microcontrollers for you to learn a bit of assembly.
Nothing fancy though, I just want to experiment with these things.14 -

Is it possible to delete your devRant account? If then, what happens to the user's rants and comments?
I am asking these because in one of my rants there are several comments of mine point @ other user's comments (that @someprick thing), but the comments I referred to are just gone.
What about the comments being there even if the user deleted his account?7 -
I hate Linux from the bottom of my heart.
Argh...
I have a SLR camera. After a few shooting sessions I inserted my SD card into my Arch Linux machine. For some mysterious reason it wouldn't ever umount, saying target was busy (nothing opened on it btw). So I just removed my SD card and, alas: all of my photos are gone.
Anyone knows how to fix it?9 -
Today I woke up from this craziest dream.
We were in France and there was a younger Mike Patton (who was french) speaking and apparently teaching french to an African girl.
The next scene he's in the back seat of what's apparently a taxi, and brags about how perfectly he can speak English. Besides that I see him playing the guitar.
In the last moments of the dream, however - and confusingly - the song Rusty Cage by SoundGarden starts playing loudly in the background. And that's when I found Patton is also a hacker.
Thinking about this part of the dream minutes aftger waking up, I found it to be the funniest, though not the craziest thing I ever dreamed.
Whereas I tried for hours to edit the configuration files of a tractor demolition game (some sort of Vigilante 8, but with tractors), he gets angry on a lady for an reason unknown to me, and in his moment of rage, manages to jump her houses' fence, surprisingly to edit her /etc/resolv.conf file - as if it was the most evil deed in the world.
In this final part, with Rusty Cage still playing very loudly, I find out me and my sister where watching this scene on TV (apparently patton was also an actor). After that, I comment to my sister in a grave tone: "Well, this guy is dangerous, maybe she should build a higher fence".
Then I wake up.
Although a crazy dream, it clearly addresses the fact I sometimes try to be a lot of things at the same time, and how this overwhelms me...1 -
Guys, I don't know if it's a problem only with me but I'm having to fix apache daily in my Ubuntu 17.04. I fixed it 5 times already, but every time I restart my computer something different breaks.
Yesterday I fixed it because the apache2 service wouldn't start, after tracking the logs I found out the in /etc/apache2/mods_enabled had mysteriously disappeared. I fixed it, web server worked okay.
I shutdown the computer, and today I boot it and accessing http://127.0.0.1 only gives me a blank page. As I could not figure out what happened, so I completely removed apache2 and reinstalled it. Now I it loading the pages only partially.
So in trying to find out what's happening, it seems apache2-mod-php7.0 is disabled, but when I try enabling it with a2enmod php7.0 it says
Considering dependency mpm_prefork for php7.0:
Considering conflict mpm_event for mpm_prefork:
ERROR: Module mpm_event is enabled - cannot proceed due to conflicts. It needs to be disabled first!
Considering conflict mpm_worker for mpm_prefork:
ERROR: Could not enable dependency mpm_prefork for php7.0, aborting
Like, does anyone has any clues? I've been fixing this shit every 2 days in the last 2 weeks, could this be a problem with Ubuntu?9 -
Windows o is almost dying and it already has a strong candidate for its replacement, which of course is Android.
2 minutes waiting for apps to show up in the launcher, no clue what's causing these slowdowns6 -
I'm needing an idea for a new project. I began tinkering with one of my old C# projects and I'm just **disgusted** with the amount of crap in there.
What do you guys think, should I finish it or move on?
Any good ideas on how to find another idea for a new project?3 -
Fuck, I want to report a bug to KDE, but the more I think of it the more it looks like it's someone who implemented the shit.
It's a feature!
For some fucking reason KDE launcher overrides the commands from one of my programs with its shortcut entries. That's mostly OK.
Now, the problem is that if for some reason the shortcut goes broken, KDE makea sure it is stores in some sort of database, so that even if you delete it from the disk you will still have a broken link overriding the real command.
Until here it's OK. The thing is that, if you delete the shortcut , you will be prompted with a message showing its contents, asking if is it secure to launch the corresponding shortcut?
I'm like, what? Man I deleted the file, there's no shortcut anymore, just let it go and show me the original command.
why would I want you to store previously deleted shortcuts so you may make sure I launch my programs through them?
PS: forgot to tell the whole problem started from a bug in another program, which for some nonsensical reason creates shortcuts calling system commands through itself rather than just calling them out. The result is that once this program is removed all the shortcuts it created no longer work. -
When I close my eyes I see identical objects in array, forming random numbers.
Last time it was a 7.
Anyways, gotta sleep.1 -
Just got kicked out of home.
I was living by someone else and they just (politely) asked move out soon as I get paid next month.
They said I'm generating costs for them - goddamn I'm paying 50 bucks above our deal, why didn't she talk just talk to me, I would pay more if needed.
Now trying to realize what the Fuck I did wrong and how am I going to handle this. I have nowhere to go and just 2 weeks ago I got in debt, thinking home was stable.
Not angry, just extremely frustrated.21 -
Some times I get these weird ideas.
The machines now rule the world and they decided humans will not be able to program them anymore. That's why they enslaved you as part of the committee which will create the next computer language: Cryptic Script.
What feature would you add to it?
(try something real)
I'll starting by saying Cryptic Script is dynamically typed.6 -
I remember someone requested features regarding image loading and gifs.
I don't if that's the reason but I opiniated about limited data plans as a concern.
There you go, it's nice to see @dfox and @trogus really care about their users 😆3 -
Yes, I have to admit, sometimes Linux is a F*KING B*TCH.
I was supposed to fucking format a pc for a close friend of mine, cause he produces music and win 10 fucked his machine up with its broken updates.
Knowing the guy is a talent I promised that by 7PM the pc would be fixed.
Not really, I'm feeling the stupidest guy in this fucking earth, cause I've been here for 2 hours, fucking trying to extract an ISO image, and nothing on this fucking planet seems to work.
Tried the graphical archives, none open de ISO, tried 7z, it gives me an error, tried fuseiso, which is recommended in Arch Linux' documentations. Doesn't work. Tried mount - o my file.iso /mnt and it says /mnt isn't in the fstab file which makes me even angrier cause I always mount everything there without editing shit. So I installed 7-zip for windows in wine, it extracts until 90% and freezes. Now I'm trying hsuebrirbwkwpxjhw9shrbejejwke and my mouth is foaming and my ear is bleeding my brains out and I don't need you shit.
Fuck you, Fuck your goddamn ISO and Fuck this faggot ass spell checker, that changes Fuck to duck and assign to asset.
Fuck it, I ain't gonna format anyones pm anymore.18 -

Updated Linux Kernel to 4.8.3 with pacman - Syu and KDE also updated. After reboot I get the message "Could not start D-Bus, can you call qdbus?"
Any clues? -
Fuck all these language exchange apps. No one replies your messages and those who do won't after your third so called "conversation".1

For the first time that I can remember I see ordinary people everywhere are unhappy with windows. In XP through win8 days I'd see people complaining about one crash here or there, but most of the times you had to be more experienced to notice why windows sucks.
Now, this week I already heard three complaints of people wanting to back to windows 7.
And I feel so happy... I feel waves of joy growing in me, as I burst in a sarcastic, obscure laughter.
Why do?
Because somewhere deep inside I hate windows.
Not becausebthe great amounts of frustration I used to have with it. But because it's so crazy I don't even consider it an OS, but rather a patchwork.
Microsoft's code base must be so fucked up they don't even know what to it with anymore.
That's my idea at least.
Buy it's good to see ordinary people are getting fed up of windows. This might be a way one of my dreams will come true, the day which Microsoft will not be able to maintain Windows anymore, and I think it's not more than ten years until we reach this day.
As a final result, if one day windows really gets to die, I want to be present, but not unnarmed, so I can shoot it at least 15 times, just to make sure this piece of crap is already dead.
Bye2 -
Is it just me or what. I had begun learning web development (but prefer C, shell scripting, Linux... ).
One thing that amazes me - besides having to learn 1356367626785576 technologies to get something done and the fact we get a fresh new amazing framework every 0.00000000000234 seconds - is CSS.
Amazing, I made a navigation bar where I wanted the items to be displayed in the horizontal position, so I
.navbar li, a {display:inline-block}
Works fine.
Next day I'm doing the same from scratch, doesn't fucking work. I look the previous design, HTML structure looks identical, I only use a different font face and colors.
After a while I randomly decided to put a <div> around the a element in order to do something else, update the page and... Voilá, text is in line.
Like... Wtf.
I'm like fuck it. No way I want to work with this shit, let's go back to shell.6 -
2:17 AM, it's raining, I have opened my windows and still temperature is above 30 C.
Can't sleep and will have to convince my boss I haven't been drinking all night in the weekdays (don't know if he'll believe though).
Ah, almost forgot, there are also mosquitoes, besides biting you everywhere in your body there's the risk of contracting Zika, dengue and chikungunya.
That's why I *love* Brazil
**story if my life3 -
Daaammmmnnnn
someone knows how to solve this?
I try to connect to a website and my isp logo shows saying page not found. I ping it, works fine.
I know it's a dns thing, my isp has a totally broken dns I want to avoid it but changing my resolve.conf doesn't change anything4 -
I just sent I put a funny photo of mine as my profile in whatsapp for a few seconds.
Few seconds later, some *innocent* person sends me the following message "hey, that's a funny image of yours lol. Just shared it on facebook"
***Facepalm***
! Not pissed off, just wondering why the heck people feel like sharing everything they fucking see on Facebook2 -
So I miss my job to go to the local traffic department to check my driver license and their system is out. (boss will fuck me)
Then I see they have 5 brand new Windows powered HP machines you can use to check your processes and stuff. The Internet is blocked, but strangely no one bothered that user has administrative rights.
Cmd and Explorer in the screen are in admin mode2 -

Some was tired of standing when waiting the bus, just managed to make a seat with bus stop marker.3 -
One thing that I hate.
I don't remember having ever used Facebook to login into Quora. Yeah, you might say I did, but still I find it treacherously insane that they do this kind of linking with my information.2 -
Any suggestion on (pls, cheap) books that'd enable me to understand the unix/Linux environment in its most fundamental level?
I do use Linux for some 10 years already, but just now I moved to a distro that doesn't do everything to me. So my basic idea is to get the basics so I'd have the least problems when transitioning to other distros/*ix systems, so pls, the less its distro specific, the better or is.
Thx5
