Yes, I have to admit, sometimes Linux is a F*KING B*TCH.

I was supposed to fucking format a pc for a close friend of mine, cause he produces music and win 10 fucked his machine up with its broken updates.

Knowing the guy is a talent I promised that by 7PM the pc would be fixed.

Not really, I'm feeling the stupidest guy in this fucking earth, cause I've been here for 2 hours, fucking trying to extract an ISO image, and nothing on this fucking planet seems to work.

Tried the graphical archives, none open de ISO, tried 7z, it gives me an error, tried fuseiso, which is recommended in Arch Linux' documentations. Doesn't work. Tried mount - o my file.iso /mnt and it says /mnt isn't in the fstab file which makes me even angrier cause I always mount everything there without editing shit. So I installed 7-zip for windows in wine, it extracts until 90% and freezes. Now I'm trying hsuebrirbwkwpxjhw9shrbejejwke and my mouth is foaming and my ear is bleeding my brains out and I don't need you shit.

Fuck you, Fuck your goddamn ISO and Fuck this faggot ass spell checker, that changes Fuck to duck and assign to asset.

Fuck it, I ain't gonna format anyones pm anymore.

    mount -o loop ?

    Your /mnt dir doesn't need to be in fstab does it?

    Ah... I think it was taking your .iso filename as an option, so it thought you were basically doing 'mount /mnt' so looked for /mnt in fstab.....

    Exactly why are you trying to extract the iso ? If you want a bootable USB just dd the iso file onto the USB device .

    @skonteam you know, I think you're right, I didn't think about that.

    I'll try it tonight

    @jayMcD what's the status and the sync about?
  • 2
    @ezbie status to show you the progress of dd and sync to flush changes to the drives .

    Why didn't you use the windows 7 USB boot tool in wine ?
  • 1
    @inpothet I didn't even know such a tool exists.

    @ezbie https://microsoft.com/en-us/... and it's open source to if I remember right

    @jayMcD didn't work either.
    It writes to the USB drive and I see all files there, but it doesn't boot even if I flag it as bootable.
    I also tried Microsofts tool as they said but it doesn't run in wine.

    The ISO is ok, I ripped it from my win 7 DVD and I installed it on V box so...

    Anyways, I'll try finding a Windows pic and create the USB drive from there.

    @ezbie are you dd'ing to partitions on the USB or the entire device?
  • 1
    @spl0 partition
  • 0
    @ezbie Try it straight to the drive. ISO's dont have partitions as far as I know...
  • 1
    @spl0 sorry man I know you tried to help but this shit just won't work.

    I now did dd if=myiso.iso of=/dev/sdb instead of sdb1

    Same happened, files will appear, but I can't boot the thing.

    Forget it I'll try another method or just burn a wine DVD. (cant use mine, I don't have it with me)

    @ezbie Hmm... Do you know for sure that the machine is capable of booting from USB?
  • 0
    @spl0 I installed Arch from a USB stick.
    Anyways, I'm trying unetbootin. Let's see what happens.
  • 1
    Unetbootin did it. You must use version 434 that's found in source fourge. Newer versions don't support iso files.
  • 0
    @ezbie hmm can you tell what it did differently?
  • 1
    @spl0 it just copied the files into the ntfs partition, then it flashed a bootloader to the drive.

    So I think it might be the bootloader
