Duolingos french lesson sucks, esp the speaking exercises. It speaks french too fast

You're also an expat living in Germany? :D I tried duolingo too but I must say I'm having better results with babbel...at least I'm learning also some grammar with it :)

@polslinux no I don't live in Germany.
Also, I don't have a fixed method to learn languages, cause I get bored to easily. But I'd say I started with Duolingo's 1 year ago. It's too boring. Then I sticked with LingQ for some good 8 months.

But I'd say most of my learning comes from translating songs and watching the YouTube channel Easy German. These apps don't teach you how people use the language on the streets.

I never tried babel but from more than a dozen apps Duolingo's proved to be the only that would teach me tenths of words in a single day. The app is somewhat never updated but you should give it a try.

@ezbie shit, LingQ is the app I recommended, not Duolingo's. Duolingo's kind of sucks. After finishing the tree you'll have probably learned 1500 words, many of them which u won't remember anymore..

LingQ is different.
