Root797706yUsually takes me about six months.
Terrible managers and terrible code is soul-crushing. -
C0D4669026yYou and me both.
Many years of the same politics and bullshit lead to a dev being unmotivated even when there's new projects knocking on my door. -
iAmNaN68456yWelcome to devRant! I love mine. It's like living in a soap opera. Seriously tho, I do like my job. I was telling someone today, if "they" (MIB) hadn't dumped all the crap stuff on me, I'd be doing boring, repetitive stuff. Instead, I'm learning a ton of new things.

damn2676yFirst of all, welcome to devrant. I usually take a break of 3-4 days to refresh myself. Just go on a road trip, or to a trek. Sometimes even just sitting at home doing nothing. And when I am really bored, I switch the company to start fresh

Jodebu26yWe all have been at some point of out careers.
I worked for two quite big consulting companies and both have been horrendous experiences. Tons of hours, underappreciated, ludicrous salary, more time invested in management and writing documentation than coding, obsolete or deprecated technologies...
At one point I realized I was afraid of going to sleep because the moment I opened my eyes I had to go back there.
That was the turning point for me. I started hunting jobs like a pro. The only thing I did for several months besides going to work was job search and job interviews. I barely spent time with my wife. It wasn't funny at all but I regret nothing.
Now I have a dev job outside consulting that seems tailored specifically for my personality and skillset, a fun project, awesome co-workers, and beautiful conditions.
There is a perfect place for you to work, but you really need to hunt for it like there's no tomorrow.
I hope this little tale gives you the motivation you need!
im tired of my job
