Just found the equivalent of this code living in a project that has been live for years.

String emailAddress = "";
String otherEmailAddresses = PopulateEmail();

if (emailAddress.Trim != "")
{
SendEmail(emailAddress);

if (otherEmailAddresses != "")

SendEmail(otherAddresses);
}
}

At least I didn't write this originally.
