>> Person doesn't turn off data collection
>> Also person whenever they find the data collected on them
I'm not justifying what they do, but it's kinda funny to see ppl shook at the amount of data collected whenever they don't even try to stop it.
*Please don't come at with any tinfoil hat bullshit either. I don't fucking care lol* -
@Jilano Right but anyone that has enough sense to know how to get their data 100% should know how tf to opt out.
It's on them if they don't do it.
It's one thing for a non-tech person that doesn't know, but clearly this was a thread containing individuals who aren't incompetent as fuck. -
@Stuxnet some of my friends should be wearing a tinfoil hat...
"Companies like Google are constantly sending what you are saying to their servers"
Hm? Then how come when I have my packet sniffer on (when developing an app for android) nothing out of the ordinary appears? Ofc, only one of them is a tech person... But he is the most vocal about the issue... -
@dozingncoding Yeah, obviously they aren't doing it conatantly. I just have had Google Assistant pop up out of nowhere. Keyword is disabled, display was off, Assistant didn't care, it went off anyway.

@kescherRant happens all the time with my home mini yet whenever I go check when audio it's recorded, nothing ever appears from those instances.

I found out that I apparebtly saved nudes of my gf on another GDrive I usually never use and which therefore is also not encrypted 🤔😅
-
@Stuxnet should be opt-in instead of opt-out though. Most people aren't that tech savvy.
-
HogDev12495yI like how alot of people that I've mentioned the whole "big tech companies hoard your data" to usualy knows about it, but is just to lazy to opt-out. Alot of times they get angry at the company but never bothers to opt-out.

rant1ng44625y@Stuxnet you know, that tinfoil hat thing was created when the us Gov created a campaign to muddy the waters.
I wont elaborate any further, I'm too lazy and it's top secret -
@rant1ng and now it's being used to describe people with irrational fears that say some retarded shit or are like fucking Dale Gribble from King of the Hill.

Saw a reddit thread earlier asking about the most unsettling shit that people have found out Google has on them by downloading their data. I saw a bunch of comments about people finding voice recordings that Google had taken. After reading these, I was wondering what I could find from downloading my data. Decided to download my data, and on the page for it I saw that apparently I had disabled location history, audio activity, and device information.
Knowing companies like Google, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't stop recording that stuff, just that they're not providing it to me. There were zero voice recordings, but there was location history up until about the beginning of 2017.
Another thing they have is all the pictures from all of my hangouts chats. Apparently there had a good amount of older pictures of myself in there. Going back to probably 2-3 years ago, when I had my emo hair. Just a bit of a throwback. One picture I saw was from last January, when my hair was reaching my chest. Made me really miss my hair.
Other than that, nothing that interesting. Just something I thought I'd share.
