M$ even admitted that ActiveX was not safe. They at least accepted the problem.
But just saying the the user: "Cool features = get hacked" is stupid.

    ActiveX gives you access to windows and folder directories, so yes, this can be used with ease with malicious intent.

    But on the other hand, scripting processes with this was a dream for personal use 🙃

    @C0D4 I've used it once to get the autofill the computername in a ticket formular.
    But I didn't knew that ActiveX basically turns the Website into an executable (probably more restrictions but still).

    @LinusCDE there was restrictions (in the sense the user had to give permission) but after that "ok".... it was not OK 😅

    @LinusCDE not sure, never really enjoyed the toolbar era 😂
    I've mostly only used ActiveX for silent printing.
    Basically grabbing a file and printing it without any prompts.

    at the time there was a few sites that let you build your own toolbars and brand it. They just spat out the .exe for it to be distributed and installed.
