2 Things:. Never symlink the root directory and don't try to remove a symlink with rm -rf

Nearly shit my pants today.

    I did this once with my Ubuntu and then I deleted the entire file system, suffice to say that I deleted the OS .. lol

    For anyone who doesn't know, removing it with rm -f is fine, however the -r flag will follow symlinks and delete whatever directory it's pointing to instead

    @irene still don’t know what the avz means in ‘rsync -avz’ but I make sure to type it every time
