None man, you can't make it a 24 hour thing. Specially If you work on the field. Do some other shit, work out, play video games. Watch movies and shit i dunno, just don't make it your only thing to do. Shit is a mental workout.
Do what @Stuxnet does and watch sports damn near religiously :P -
@AleCx04 religiously miiiiggght be a bit of an understatement lol
OP: dont force yourself to do anymore coding than necessary. It's more harmful in the long term than it is good now.
Also, like @AleCx04, diversify your hobbies. I'd kms if I worked 9-5 coding and then spent like 4 hours afterwards coding. -
I go on trips every weekend with friends or family. And on weekdays, reading books or random things on the internet keep me sane.
-
@jesustricks people underestimate the value of beating one's meat to reduce stress.
-
@AleCx04 idk I always associated it as the same concept of plugging and unplugging shit.
Like it's step 1 and you always start there type deal lol -
1. Do you know why you're burning out? Your strategies for preventing burnout are going to depend on the reasons you're burning out in the first place.
2. It's MUCH easier to prevent burnout than it is to cure it. It's like preventing a car crash vs recovering from one. If you're already burned out, recovering should be far up the priority list, way before side projects and in many cases even before your actual job. Don't go "above and beyond" at work if they've already burned you out.
3. It's okay to not do side projects all the time. If you don't want to do them, consider that your subconscious' way of saying that you're doing too much right now and you need to spend some time doing something else. It doesn't mean you're going to fall behind. I know lots of hamster-wheel idiots who have constant side projects going and it doesn't make them more effective at work. Doing the same things all the time gives you a narrow way of thinking. If your hobbies are constructive you'll be OK. -
sysvinit8555yI started doing workouts. 4 days a week, the other 3 days I play games or sometimes I work on “side projects”
During weekend, I go out, meet with friends and chill. -
tervavau315yPhysical hobby that demands 100% concentration. Like inline skating, martial art, floorball with friends. Jogging or gym for example are not so good as you can still focus your mind into work related problems while exercising.
Everyone's body needs some occasional physical stress. I live in North and I do some winter swimming. In the hole in the ice i forget all my work problems for a while.
