Yikes
I hate apple too but Steve Jobs led Apple ain't the Apple we have today buddy.
Trying to act like this man didn't change the world with the company he made is pretty bullshit buddy. -
@12bitfloat
which begs the question
was he a brilliant designer/coordinated BECAUSE he was a dickhead, or in SPITE of being a dickhead? -
@Wisecrack @vane Being a dick isn't actually the important thing, though. Being disagreeable gets you very far, though. And if you're also *really* smart you can actually change the world
-
C0D4669025ySteve was an asshole, but he knew how to make something that worked well (for its time) and then sell it to the masses as if they knew they needed it, the trillion dollar company we have today was a bi-product of this.
Since Steve's passing, Apple have done nothing overly new. Except the AR glasses rumoured to be coming next year, their products are still the same at the end of the day, just newer hardware and features shoved into them.
I don't like Macs or the IWatch, but the iPhone/iPad ecosystem i still prefer over Android setups -> my days of needing to control and customise every nook and cranny are over. -
vane110525y@Wisecrack Thanks, actually people got used to what they learned in schools and it’s usually opposite to reality of the world.
@12bitfloat well I cannot agree.
People tend to idealize individuals cause it’s simplification of collective effort and there are implications of it.
There is cool youtube short about leadership and being a dick that is interviewing some famous movie directors https://youtu.be/gRRvjZ_XNog -
@vane It wasn't Steve Jobs who came up with the idea of the iPhone. An employee showed a demo for a tablet and he decided to use the tech for a phone.
He's not a wizard. He's just a genius leader -
Bubbles66125ySteve Jobs shouldn’t be idolized. Steve Wozniak did the heavy lifting and the important work. Jobs just yelled at everybody and tried to run a company like a dictator ship. He was an idea man but that’s all anyone should give him credit for
-
@Bubbles "just being the idea man" is a pretty difficult job and pretty much central to a good company mate.
Implementation is fine but without good ideas and the drive to push them through literally nothing is going to happen. -
Bubbles66125y@RememberMe I agree, but everyone treats him like he’s the second coming of Christ. Wozniak is the one that did all the real work and was the real innovator and a true genius. (in the beginning of Apple before he left)
But I will say the things that Jobs put on the table like his ideas and business skills were needed but I don’t think people should hold him more accountable than Woz (again before he left Apple)
Why do people idolize Steve Jobs?
All he did was create a massive corporation that make overpriced products and refuse to be compatible with anything else.
The man is a dickhead.
