Senior Devs, what are your general expectations from a junior Dev at work?

I expect them to be able to write ok code without handholding and to have the ability to use google.

mine are too high, apparently :(

3 cups worth of tears, 4 empty coffee mugs and a Tux plushee for comfort

    Any less and they're out

Able to follow my train of thought for 3 min. Seniors should be able to withstand 15 min before tapping out.

I expect them to be the same as my expectations of a senior without the experience.

Be able to write code, able to get criticized, able to give their ideas on how to improve the product, able to ask questions when they don't know something that isn't easy Googleable, be open for suggestions.

I just want them to try things first, experiment, get creative, then if it doesn't work, ask for help

Follow the existing conventions, code style, etc.

Voraciously curious, good apm (discussable, but i like gamer devs), self regulation (fight for information until you push to hard and lay back then come back for it), strong searching skills and logic (understanding the theory and being shown the practice) and knowing how to debug. Ho yeah and as last comment said RIGOROUS. Dev is about the profile and the attitude.

Not take offence to feedback from seniors and actively seek it out when it's not being given.

Understand that programming is not magic. Every language, every library, every program is just a tool. And at first you might start with a small toolset, but understanding the tools you use is a must. It's okay to progress slowly as long as you're understanding what you're doing, if not ask, Google and continue to learn as you started already. I hope you the best of a career.
    P. S. Deadlines are always there, there is always more work, don't sweat (it's bad for morale and health) if you're not hitting the goals (don't forget to inform your seniors though)

lI expect people to express what their problem is, when they seek for help. I cannot help, if I don't know where the problem is.

    - Googling/Searching is an art. Learning how to “google” a question is the key to start.

    - Break down problem into smaller modules and tackle smaller ones to reach answer to entire problem.

I expect them to get coffee for me in the morning.

    Monday - mocha
Tuesday to Thursday - long black
    Friday - flat white

You know, to maximize our velocity.

@swablu you trust them with that. I trust them with production credentials, but coffee hell no.
