C0D4669025y"You" won't use it, if you don't know about it.
"You" meaning the target demographic this ad was aimed at, you somehow meet their criteria?
Plus, it's like almost 2020, and you're not using an adblocker 🤷♂️ -
@C0D4 The thing is, Android devs *must* know about Android Studio, since it's kind of a requirement for app development. Non-mobile devs shouldn't be the target demographic of such advertisement.

KDSBest7715yFor a company to throw some money away for little to no results, might sometimes look odd. That's very common for tax savings for example. Btw. You writing this and spreading the word with this rant shows that you are a perfect audience for the ad. You even put this ad here on devrant for free.

@AlgoRythm To get better statistics (look, our Android Studio has grown 12% usage than comparable paid products) for the next meeting?
Jokes aside, if the ad was targeting a broader audience, including developers not developing for Android (yet): "Do you want to develop Android apps? Here is the tool." -
@sbiewald No, it just said "Android Studio" and a link to it. It was bizarre and I am scared :((
-
@linuxxx everything does but to publish Android apps you need to join the gcult so they're getting your data either way pretty much. I'm not sure how valuable your usage statistics of an IDE are but I'm guessing not enough for an ad spot on one of their major platforms
-
It probably doesn't cost them much to advertise it if they use DV360 to do the advertising. Just Google advertising Google.
I just got an advertisement for Android Studio?
Why?? Why would google spend money telling me about Android Studio?? I'm a bit off-put by this?
