I don't have Facebook or Instagram on my phone, and I don't like Facebook for many different reasons. But Facebook has some great engineers and a lot of resources so I think they can make it happen.

These cunts can't even build a proper mobile app, a good half of the clickable surfaces doesn't actually build the new stack layer, only pushes. But I hate them anyway so the more resources they waste on a hopeless project the better.

@Lor-inc I don't know about their app (haven't had that for at least 7 years), but even their so-called mobile website is a trainwreck. Slow, inconsistent and it registers input on wrong elements all the time..

And for the topic: Let them fail hard.

@theKarlisK I agree. Don't forget they are dominating the VR market, and who knows, that ship may change decades to come just like the phone did.

A lot of people are literally only using thier phone for calling and Facebook/Instagram/WhatsApp.

For them it would certainly make sense to only give away thier lives to one company. 🤷‍♂️

I don't use them in my day job but from using them in hobby projects, I think they've done pretty well with React and GraphQL.

And is it not more likely that they want their own os for their own hardware like Oculus?
