Parzi88335y@RememberMe diccrod is gaye and doesn't like not kicking me from calls after the 4 minute mark
-
@RememberMe whenever you're from BFE you don't get a very good internet connection 2/3 of the time.
Shit I've been through places so small before I didn't get a signal at all. Like no calling, texting or internet. -
@Parzi there's actually a local company running fiber through a large chunk of my bfe hometown.
They're legitimately fixing to have a better internet than I have and that's some bullshit lol -
Parzi88335y@Stuxnet we're on mobile data OR 800 baud dial-up... but there's literally fiber running THROUGH MY FUCKING YARD that's "business-class only." They paid US for this and we can't use it.
-
@Stuxnet BFE? Sorry, just arrived in the US, not familiar with that expression.
Wow, that sounds terrible. I found it really surprising how common SMS, MMS (literally never used that before) and checks are here, they're fairly antiquated. -
@M1sf3t nah
@RememberMe and yes it's bumfuck, Egypt. Just means middle of nowhere.
And it's very common lol nobody uses WhatsApp, most people either use SMS or Facebook messenger (and ofc iMessage).
I'll be glad whenever rcs is the standard and we can all just use that. -
@RememberMe When you don't use mainstream messengers (like I don't use telegram and WhatsApp), sometimes plain old SMS is the best option :)
-
@M1sf3t Signal is the best IMO! Been using it for years and it only gets better 😄
-
@RememberMe
The odds of someone rolling around with a femtocell are pretty low, sms is fine for common message. -
@SortOfTested but your phone has access to SMS data and I'm sure literally every company would be mining it (unless both parties are using a community ROM I guess). The whole point is to save your private data and metadata from companies etc.
Eh, I guess you need to have *some* way to communicate with people who aren't on Signal etc., so yeah, SMS away. -
@RememberMe Definitely not as privacy friendly and secure. But rather that than using an app which advertises as secure and isn't or which is owned by a mass surveillance integrated company.
i've known this guy for like 4 years, we're great friends... this is my entire SMS log with him.
