Or you could say that it's not without giving a lecture.
Just a brief "I'm not a security expert (unless you are, in which case day that you are) but that's a really bad idea and passwords should involve letters, numbers and special characters." -
@Stuxnet "nah that's too much effort to remember and who would want to hAcK me anyways? It's not Like I'm rich or important enough to be hAcKeD or something Like that. I haven't been hAcKeD, yet so it's safe"
-
@don-rager that's whenever you have the "meh alright then" mentality too.
I feel like it's your responsibility to at least try to inform them to be smart and outside of that you can do fuck all lol -
C0D4669025yI'm not rich enough to be hacked 😂
You have a $1 in that bank account, your a profitable target. -
C0D4669025y@AppleLover way to complicated when you have 1000+ online accounts from over the last couple of decades (ie: me)
You either have 1 password and a bucket load of variations (insecure) or you just strap a random password at it and walk away. -
@M1sf3t that's why I enjoy going to my little old man who still has a flip phone and only takes cash. 10/10

Definitely not a great idea.
That said, a long time ago, I bought a Nintendo dev kit second hand. In the manual, I found a slip of paper which had the internal phone numbers of some of the game devs at Nintendo jp.
I used those + a salt as passwords for quite a long time. -
@C0D4 Why would someone have 1000+ online accounts? I'd (personally) clean right away.

@C0D4
This. I honestly don't like this comic much, because of its flamebait potential. It's obligatory in password discussions at this point, which kind of sucks (the horsebatterystaple has been beaten to death). It's also not very clear in that it's comparing simple contextual ciphers to true random passwords.
I'm just glad 1password is a thing now. -
and that time and place was there, for you to log in to her whatever account you know about, and go "yeah, great password, interesting emails you've got here", or something like that.
Had my hairdresser tell me she thought her phone number was a great password for all her online accounts.
Just smiled and nodded, I feel there’s a time and a place for lectures on internet security.
