I am. I graduated in 2005 with a bachelors in Computer Science and took a job at a debt collection firm where I was the only developer. Two years later I was in a job where I got promoted to senior developer ... and pretty much been a senior dev or sys admin or devops developer ever since.

a senior dev has a silver back like a gorilla. He is the alpha male.

    I’m a one-man WordPress shop. Ergo I’m senior by default, I guess?

    Me, unhappily.
Not because of the code or project scale, but because of other "senior" devs who really are glorified juniors. Also, the juniors. And the managers.

Really, the only good thing about being a developer is solving puzzles with code. And the more senior you are, the less of this you get to do. Or the puzzles are less about interesting challenges and more about finding landmines in a lake of keyboard diarrhea.

    The pay is nice, though.

    Me.

...but it means very little in practice. In some companies nearly everyone is a senior dev. I daresay I could probably get my job title changed to "almighty electronics tamer" if I really, really pushed it.

@AleCx04 Stop it. I'm immature enough for my age, I don't need encouragement 😂
