Today I was hired to pentest a company's framework. While getting directions on what needs to be tested I counted 4times the sentence:
"We are a multi-awarded company for our security, virtually nothing gets past our firewalls".

Most of the PCs had Win98

    Windows 98? Where do you live? I could understand if it was a third world country?

    @drRoss Technologically the country I live must be a fifth world country.

    Windows 98? These computers must have been salvaged from a garbage dump?

    Windows 98 running unpatched IIS webservers? Hohoho

    Security by obscurity?

    @nmunro Security by embarrassment, hackers will be deterred from messing with that shit.

    @nblackburn I actually heard once that older unsupported OSs are supposedly harder to hack simply because, in theory noone should be running them, therefore noone should be searching for vulnerabilities.

    Dunno how true that is, I don't do penetration testing or any "hacking" so I speak with absolutely no authority on this.

    @nmunro I was joking, but there is an element of truth in that. However with that being said everything has a weakness.

    Can I hack into their firewall please

    @nmunro it's true to a point .

    But also bullshit ... It becomes unsupported if enough people used it like windows after its unsupported they still have enough people on it so hackers try to exploit and find things . And they never get fixed cause unsupported.

    So if your not windows ... Maybe that's true to a point ...
