I sleep with curtains open, two alarms, and snooze protection. Yet, I manage to get up, defuse all alarms, and go back to sleep without being completely awake. -
NoMad141765yGuys, It's not a normal sleep pattern for me, let's say it out loud once at least. I have no problems sleeping normal hours and with good quality while in vacation, back in high school, and before I became friends with anxiety.

gorgorp05yWhen I started having similar issues it really did help to change the routines, took me a while to figure out. A temporary solution is to "hide" your alarm such that you have to wake up. Still works for me if I have to survive on a few hours of sleep.

My "sleep hygiene" is terrible. No screen before bed my ass... I tried for a horrific month, but I just can not fall asleep without some cartoon softly playing on TV. Sleep timer? As soon as it switches off, I jump straight up in bed "WHY IS IT SO SILENT I CAN'T SLEEP LIKE THIS".
Then eventually I do fall into a coma and can easily stay between the sheets until noon the next day -- even if I went to bed at midnight.
It's not even an "I'm still tired I need more sleep" thing, it's more that my brain seems reluctant to change in either direction. It's not like I'll be groggy all day if someone shocks me out of bed at 8AM.
I've accepted it for the most part. Work knows they should not contact me before 10AM.
But, there are situations where the world just doesn't budge to your requirements.
My trick is to drink half a liter of warm, de/non-caffeinated beverage, like herbal tea, before bed.
Your bladder will wake you after 7-8 hours. -

You could use alarm app which require you to solve complex math equation in order to defuse it. -
@mr-user this works for me pretty well but I've learnt to solve them the easiest way

mr-user13525y@NoMad You are a tough opponents. Maybe you should automate your air-con to turn off when it reach at specific time (human beings cannot sleep if it become too hot) or you should let your bladder do your waking up as @bittersweet have suggest.
On funny note it is a business opportunities,you found a problem , solve it and make money out of it. If you know mechanical engineering,you can design a machine which throw a bucket of cold water onto you or let out a certain smell which you hate to wake you up. -
NoMad141765y@mr-user 1. Bladder takes about two hours. And I don't sleep in with full bladder.
2. Ain't got no aircon. Northern Europe doesn't do aircon. (which is frustrating now given global warming)
It really isn't about sleep itself. It's about the stress, anxiety and depression building up. If I manage that, I can manage anything. But then covid doesn't help the least bit.
Point of this rant tho, was to see if others have got it too. Cuz I was feeling like I was the only one failing at a simple task of sleeping. 😬 #insecurities -

But as he points it out, that style is his norm. It is not mine. I want to go back to my norm. 🙁 -

mr-user13525y@NoMad Let me help you with your depression (Disclaimer : I am not a doctor and not in any medicinal profession so take my word with a grain of salt)
First you have to know that nothing is eternal no matter how good or how bad it is. The thing called "covid" will pass,it is just a matter of time.
Secondly try to mediate correctly before sleeping or while you are sleeping. How to correctly mediate? -
mr-user13525y1) Close your eyes
2) Put your body in whatever position you are comfortable in (common myth: you don't have to sit uptight,you just need to be comfortable)
3) Regulate your breathing (Easier to do it is to know the inhale and exhale)
4) If you do the step 3 correctly, you will notice your body in depth (you will notice that small pain across your body,itches across your body,--etc)|
5) Try to do it for at least 3 minute (you can do it for longer if you wanted)
Mediating for medical reason is to calm your mind,there are also spiritual reason for it but I am not going to bore you with it (tag me if you are interested in it)
I am from a religion where mediating is recommended practice so I can advise you on mediating correctly. There are logical reason for mediating but most people just focuses on spiritual one. -
