Forget porn detection and chatbots. What the big companies SHOULD be using AI for is detecting missing semicolons in code.

What, like most IDEs do?

@joetj they normally give weird errors where you can't tell that the issue is actually a missing semicolon.

@TheInitializer Sometimes, yes. But after you've seen an error message a couple times you often already know what the cause is, especially if it's something simple like a missing semicolon, bracket etc.

You don't need AI for that, that would be the most over engineered tool going.

@TheInitializer It has the intention of being cross platform but has to make it to one platform first. It was announced so long ago that i imagine its mostly forgotten about now.

It's a sad commentary on our languages and tools that we still lose time hunting down trivia like semi colons. Sure, your can use an IDE. Or configure Vim. Or write a CI bot to scan pull requests for syntax errors.

But seriously. What is so damn special about semicolons. Smh.
