    You need to make the other person/people believe you are who you say you are.

    Aka: you enter a room under the impression you're a senior dev, you had better make it believable if you're a junior.

    I had a guy early in my career tell me that particular motivator all the time. Real company man that one.

    What *he* meant by it was work a 9 to 5 in a soul crushing corporate grind that had no challenges and few rewards. Conform, fit in, put in your time, pay your dues, obey. Wear the uniform with pride, don't just look the drone, be the drone. Always concede to seniority, constantly compromise for the sake of social convenience. Be wrong a lot to align with the corporate values, be heartless to align with the corporate culture. Distrust anything not invented here, abuse the trust you earn. Own the success of others, never own failure. Accept any cost that enables you to move up the ladder, mask your irresponsibility behind a bulwark of risk aversion. Be as utterly inoffensive as possible and tailor your image and presence to blend in with the wallpaper. Definitely never demand your due or call anyone out on anything. The nail that sticks out gets hammered down.

    He's the kind of guy whose existence was meant as a warning to others. 😆

    @SortOfTested well.... I failed 😂

    I can't stand pencil pushers, or in our case. Keyboard strokers, you want me to take you serious, you fight the system (some times) when appropriate.
