I'd like to talk about my first impression of the new product of Microsoft :
"New Edge Browser"
I just wanted to take a shallow glance at this browser, and it was horribly awesome in contrary with my expectations.
The design and animations and smooth transitions, ease of migration from chrome and enhanced UI were the things that aroused my interest at the first 5 minutes of usage, as a frontend developer, I'm so much eager to dig up more in it. Share your experience and opinions with me 😉

    well it's just another chromium distro.

    @kescherRant hahaha, I know, I'm talking about my or your impression, and it's from Microsoft, vscode was also another editor, now I can't live without it:))

    @arrow891 I dislike VSCode for being based on Electron as well.

    @kescherRant well the reason that I'm so excited might be because of the fact that the first language I've learnt was C# and visual studio and... You know 😂

    I pretty much stopped using Google Chrome for most things. TL;DR, even with trackers blocked (had/tried 3 of the top ones installed), I would see sites 'know' my login info or targeted ads for items I was searching for days earlier (garden hoses? Really? that's not a coincidence). Firefox, Brave, Vivaldi, and now Edge have been nearly 100% perfect.

    @PaperTrail Thanks for sharing these notable points 👍👍👍👍

    @arrow891
    I suppose the difference is the integration point. If I had to sign into vscode with a Microsoft account to have meaningful extensions, I probably wouldn't use it either 😉

    @torbal I respect your opinion, but in my opinion, it's participation in open source products is admirable, although there might not be perfect in comparison, but it's a good step in moving ahead 😅

    @SortOfTested yes that was the disappointing point that I faced also 😅

    Firefox developer tools are better out of the box. I haven't looked back

    @torbal hahaha, in that case apple is more ahead, because at least they are not pretending that they are changing their policies in a good way 😂

    @torbal
    They actually are going to upstream. A far sight better than say, canonical. Even so, agreed, chrome covered in nadella sauce is basic failure.

    @AlgoRythm Well when I was working as a B2C developer, I had too much problems with differences between Firefox and Chrome (don't know if they solved the issue or not) but personally I prefer to use Chrome rather than Firefox although there is no doubt that Firefox gives us much better tools and so on.

    @arrow891 I have only noticed one thing the two browsers do differently and it was a very, very specific use case of flex
  • 0
    @AlgoRythm I can't remember what was those differences, but I'm sure that flex was included, what I'm talking is that the sense it gives us when we use edge for the first time away from technical issues and other criticisms 😅 maybe I just enjoyed then I opened my eyes wider

    The typescript team works with the angular team daily. Microsoft contrib'd the commit-graphs optimizations for git to allow for billion commit scale repo support and faster treelike comparison and spanning.

    You can throw a rock and hit agnostic contrib by their 1.6k active contributors on GitHub, even before they bought it.

    It's pretty basement dweller to assert that every engineer collecting a paycheck from Microsoft is piece of shit who can't code their way out of a paper bag and is goose stepping to the party line.

    @FrodoSwaggins cool, whatever it is, it's much more better than IE and current edge, I don't expect it compete with chrome or other browsers, just getting rid of IE and edge satisfies me :))

    @torbal
    No, it was pretty clear. I also listed two concrete examples. Shits pretty trivial to find on github. You're not interested in hearing them, and apparently downvoting comments that are contrary to your narrative.

    My first impression of the new edge was fuck you. I didn't ask you to be started and I can't even close you (due to some setup dialog I did not ask for, kill it is). Pinning stuff to the taskbar is my job not yours.

    I was pleasantly surprised that it was not set as default browser! The only thing I liked.

    @hjk101 chill bro :))))

    looks like a browser

    doesn't have Opera GX's ram and cpu limiters, so i'm not switching, since that function is literally the only reason i switched from chrome.

    @lanfiro ahahha, I had the same feeling too, if Microsoft wasn't that much exclusive it would be great, specially about extensions
