Similar with me, I just can't do shit anymore if it's above around 27,28 as well.
-
NoMad136664y@Ranchu worse than that, the reality of global warming hasn't really set in Northern Europe yet, so they still refuse to install air cons.
-
@NoMad which N.European country is that backwards? Here there's air con pretty much everywhere except bars and homes - and has been for years. Even if heat above 27c is considered abnormal any time of year, most peeps seem to stop functioning at around 25c. I have a relatively high heat tolerance, but these 30+ heat waves with absolutely no wind still take their toll... thank gosh we have air con at our office...
-
Jeez isn’t normal body temperature 37 degrees, that’s a delta of 10 degrees, I think that’s too much my sweet spot is 29 to 31 (env)
you guys are cold blooded animals
Although 25-27 (env) is my sleep temperature -
We've been having nice pleasant temperatures, down in the south. Almost gets too cold during the night.
-
@Jilano I know. It came out wrong, and by the time I realized it was too late to edit my msg.
-
NoMad136664y@miksaraj Germany, ffs. There is one library in this whole damn city that has AC and I ain't going there cuz of covid.
Although, since you said it, it is very interesting that Finland has accepted AC. ðĪ -
NoMad136664y@hardfault I'd argue where you've been brought up and the temperature you've been living in for the past year has a lot to do with that.
-
@NoMad i have colleagues who have same 27 degree limit and they are from the same place as i am
Usually they crank up the AC to 20 i hate it because i get sleepy in low temperatures
I guess also related to habit you develop and thickness of skin. -
@NoMad Even my workplace doesn't have A/C, let alone my home - Northern Germany. 29°C in my room now, and pumping iron is scheduled for today. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, as Nietzsche put it.
Back in the 80s when computers were still made out of wood, even the cars didn't have A/C, and we had quite some super hot summers (record in Germany in '83: 40°C). -
@NoMad that is interesting, indeed. However, I've come to notice it seems to be a norm that when it comes to anything making life more comfortable or easier (such as AC), Finland is the among the first adopt such practices and technologies widely
... this reminded me of the shock I had when I moved to the UK and something my old man used to say, but I don't want to offend any Brits here -
NoMad136664y@Fast-Nop if I die of a heatstroke, you Germans are to blame!! ð A *cough* great mind *cough* may die because y'all couldn't get on board with AC.
-
If you set the stage right even days with 35C aren't that bad :)
1. Work on your heat tolerance: avoid AC and water pools, dress normally. I even wear full length jeans in first 30C+ days of the summer. Stay outside as long as you can.
2. Turn your home into a cold cave: close all the windows shut during daytime. Close all the blinders. If you need ventilation - only open southern window as little/short as possible. After sunset open all the windows until morning.
The result: my wife is dying from heat at 33C while I feel very comfy outside ð when I do feel I need to chill - back to the cave. -
@NoMad Once you'll have become hard like steel (and used to German beer), you will laugh at the wimps if you should go back to 'Murica. ^^
-
@theKarlisK it does work :) closing only windows is not enough. Heat still reaches your room by radiation. Shutting all the blinders [and hanging additional ones if possible] works like magic! Try and touch them from inside the cave in the afternoon - they'll be hot af! More blinders [layers] will prevent that heat from traveling further into your room/cave.
Also avoid boiling your food in water - fry it if possible. Additional humidity in the room will speed up heat distribution inside. Also wet heat is much worse [in terms of 'feels like'] than dry
this way it's easy to maintain at least 10-15C temp difference between outdoors/indoors.
Doesn't work in August-Srptember though :/ nights are too hot -
I feel you, I can't work properly when the temperature is 27°C.
It's even worse when it rains and when there's wind during the peak of the pollen season -
@Root That font setting would have rightfully earned you the cat o' nine tails in the 18th century Royal Navy.
-
@NoMad Btw, it was so hot that after two hours of training, I was wetter than @rutee07 in the dreams of my sleepless nights.
-
Root797774y@Fast-Nop K. I like it.
@NoMad Me, too. That's why I'm leaving.
@Jilano Why do you still live there? -
It's too hot to sleep to evening.
_Why I can't just use my fat as an organic source of fossil oil?_ -
NoMad136664y@theKarlisK ohhhhhh now I see. Well, I think it's around 80-90% here so I am living under the water, it seems. Even the air is sweating on me. So don't mind me being jealous of your 60%.
-
NoMad136664y@Jilano I thought you were an Aussie ðĪ was I wrong? Afaik winter hasn't disappeared in the hell hole of Victoria, at least, where the cold in the winter kills you worse than a Scandinavian snow.
-
NoMad136664y@theKarlisK let's get together and cry... Sorry, I mean... Let's sweat from our eyes.
-
@DeathHowler Confucius says, if it's hot, just stay cool. Laozi says, the wise is cool because he's hot as fuck.
-
I cap out in the low 20s. But hey, I also wear shorts all year round, so it's unsurprising I guess.
Not been too productive this week as a result.

It's so fucking hot in here I wanna murder a bitch. How am I gonna continue working like this?
Let's hope it rains soon.
* Footnote:
My heat tolerance is low. About 27 degrees (c) is when my body starts malfunctioning due to heat.
