Plastics and hot liquids don't mix. If you have to use plastic, look for the HDPE symbol. Even then, don't get it too hot as you run the risk of leaching the plastic depending on the composition of the liquid.
Safest bet is always metal or glass. I use gallon mason jars. -
donuts238504y@SortOfTested yes didn't have any large glass jars though and my thinking was all the takeout soups come in plastic containers....
-
donuts238504y@SortOfTested guess I'll just stick with making them with ice cubes or continue buying them from McDonald's.... Until I can find a large glass jar from somewhere....
The only thing that comes to mind is Costco olives but I don't want to eat that many olives... -
donuts238504y@SortOfTested yes but that's expensive? 45$? And well I kinda just need a quart.
But yes why pay for something u can get for free if it's used to hold whatever ur buying. -
@donuts
Pickle bottles will also work. I like the half gallon for pourability. -
@SortOfTested In supermarkets over here, yoghurt is available in returnable 500g glass bottles (15 cent deposit). They're pretty solid, I use that as shaker for my protein drinks. Rinsing with boiling water works with no problems.

@shakur wow.
That was the first helpful post containing facts I've read so far.
Have a Cookie :)
And yes he's right. Be VERY careful with plastic.
If you are looking for a cheap solution... I don't know the term in English.
In german: Einmachgläser. When you cook marmelade, you usually fill it in hot fresh from the pot and then boil it in a pressure cooker (to prevent botulinum and other bacteria).
You'll get 5 glasses with 1l for 25 Euro on Amazon... -
@shakur food safe symbol doesn't guarantee that the container is necessarily safe or suitable for hot or greasy food.

donuts238504y@electrineer will with all that mucroplastics been it seems were all screwed anyway... Just a difference of how screwed everyone is relative to each other...
Tonight I'd thought I'd get a make bulk iced coffee... A fairly easy task except I used the wrong container.....
Apparently not all plastic containers can hold hot liquid....
Spent an hour wiping coffee off the counter top, everything that was on it, and the floor... Probably need to give it a good cleaning with floor cleaner tmr too...
But yes there went my evening of relaxing....
