Linux will never be the most installed system, when people continue reinstalling Windows this much

Yeah the biggest problem is that most windows users just go with what they started with. until there is a linux distro that can fully run any Windows program it's not really going to supercede windows. which makes me sad cause I converted my 61 year old mom to linux and she prefers it over windows cause its faster

Rubbish. Install vanilla windows and hunt for hours for drivers.
Install Ubuntu ant it all works out of the box. We live in a different world now.

Well, windows has its ptos, too. My friend bought this high-end laptop for RoR development. Linux was obvious choice for rails, but laptop hadn't drivers for sound, wifi etc. After few months he just gave up and installed Windows on it, all the problems have gone. Except Windows is not a good choice for RoR because of lack of latest versions. So - he spend few thousands for high-end device which eventually was not helpful at all and he had to buy a macbook eventually.

Linux isn't that great, especially on new laptops. :(

Linux is the most common OS:
- Android
- Fire OS
- Chrome OS
- Routers
- All of the Things (in the Internet of things)
- And then all of those countless servers (which can be much smaller virtual instances because you rarely have to worry about licensing)

@mazabin He obviously had no idea about Linux. It supports way more hardware than windows does, just not gaming hardware, as Linux isn't for kids. If he bought a beast gaming laptop, no wonder it's not supported.

@sjzurek he has a lot of knowledge about linux, trust me. Laptop just wasn't supported and writing your own drivers or solving new problems everyday instead of ready to go, working setup is pointless.

That's partly also the case because most laptops come pre- installed with windows and default users tend to not look further than the software delivered on a laptop/desktop
