NoMad141764y@C0D4 tell me the difference ๐ base of my work is AI, applications in robotics and open data science are stuff I enjoy most.
-
C0D4681384y@NoMad AI + Robotics, my favourite mix - it's a shame I got buried in the depths of the web world.
-
NoMad141764y@C0D4 somebody should keep the internet alive ๐ you're supporting the rest of us.
Although, I do have many bones to pick with the fact that you cannot do proper robotics outside of very big companies, defence force labs or universities. The parts are expensive, a very ridiculous half printed robot comes down to few k€ minimum. And tie that with machine learning which means you'll need good cpu/gpu and other equipment as well. Overall, I feel like I'm going to be stuck in uni for a long time to come. -
C0D4681384y@NoMad that's true, we lower beings need to keep you lot functional๐
Totally agree though, it's one expensive area to get into as a novelty let alone to attempt it professionally. -
vane112804y@NoMad you can build robotic arm from same components as 3d printer ex. zortax robotic arm. But yeah to have fun with collaborative robots or industrial ones there are only a few companies on this planet.
Funny fact is that those companies usually have some robot programming studio / simulation software you can download and run for free so probably you can try to build some prototype just using software and then deploy it on production.
Another funny story is that those companies labs at this point have robots making robots :) -
NoMad141764y@vane most such software doesn't support learning activities. Whether online or offline. I've had the displeasure of looking for such data.
-
vane112804y@NoMad probably you’re right overall it’s something pretty much new and I installed tool like that in the past and it was like time travel lol
-
NoMad141764y@vane also, another point is that you can build it via printing and a few aluminum rods, but the motors and sensors are very costly. It was easier for us to make a drone and put a damn phone on it as its central processing and sensing than to buy a drone that is programmable. Like, just imagine the shitshow.
-
endor57514y@NoMad sadly prebuilt drones are overpriced as fuck - mostly because the people who know how do develop more advanced stuff with them want to get paid well (as evidenced by the general lack of quality and/or polish of most drone-related open source projects).
-
NoMad141764y@endor it's fair if they want to get paid well. A company that sells the same device hundred folds should be able to handle that. The issue is not their paycheck. The issue is companies trying to get rich of such stuff.
I'm taking refuge in writing documents because this robot thing is stupid.
How sad...
