Anyone else with the devRant bug where you can't load any more rants than those initially loaded, and refreshing just gives the same rants in a different order?

    Can you recreate?

@fredrf yup. Tried restarting phone, restarting devRant etc.
    I can't uncreate. It's a permanent bug

On algo sort or also on top and recent?

@trogus just on algo I believe. I've not got it now but it's about a 50% chance every time I refresh of not being able to lead more. Very inconsistent.

    Weird

When @dfox ou @torgus arrive they'll have a full ticket, with all the details.

Will we be able to identify the method(s) responsible for the bug? 😁

It sounds like you just ran out of unseen rants in algo. When that happens we just show semi-recent ones from top that you've already seen.

There's better ticket formatting in this comment section than in most of the projects I work on....

@dfox interesting..... probably I need to spend less time on devRant then! 😂😂

@Player2 lol. You can also check out "new" sort but yeah, for algo the only real alternative for us is to show an empty state since there's no more content that fits the criteria of algo (personalized to your tastes and unseen by you).

@Player2 , @dfox is saying: yeah we like that you like devRant so much but...give it some time to load! 😁

@fredrf or "sorry, our users can't post quick enough for you"
  • 2
Welp, marking this issue as solved and closing it.....

    Oh

    Shit.

Shitty shit shit shitting shitetty shit shit shit

Refreshing the algo sort would normally be like refreshing the front page of reddit, which decays slowly but we have some personalization that factors in what you've seen before, so things can shuffle around

@trogus I see. That makes a lot of sense actually.

    Thanks for the support guys!

@trogus @dfox, so is more ++ing better for the algorithm (as it is a wider scope), or worse (as it is more criteria to fill)?
  • 0
@Player2 yes - the more ++'ing you do, the better algo gets at predicting what rants you want to see.
