After two weeks with Ubuntu - I'm done with this. I'm going back to Windows.

Why? Well, it fixes some Windows problems, but at the same time new ones are popping and they are even bloody worse.

Eh? My dev experience has generally been pain free with Xubuntu.

What problems did you run into ?

I ran into a package maintainer on Github who refused to even consider a Windows friendly build.

He called the OS a 'shit machine'. I thought that was uncalled for.

I have virtual boxes for 2 operating systems, host is Windows. I use Python/Ruby on Linux, JS on Windows (so I don't have to boot virtual machines) and React Native on Mac (because of the awesome dev tools).

I prefer picking my tools for each job.

Linux can be hard at first but it is a better system and is worth knowing. You can do more with it and it doesn't take as many resources. I spent years as a sysadmin and engineer working primarily with Linux and will say from experience its great for a server but shouldn't really be used as a desktop. OS X is much better for a desktop. Less ass ache and you still get your gnu utils.

There is a course by Sander Van voght(spelling?) that is phenomenal and worth taking. The guy really breaks down the important stuff you need to know and leaves out the details. That is worth googling.

Dont tell me this, after my windows graphics drivers crashed. And windows recommended me to delete them. I troed it, but it)(obviously) got worse. Then i reset it, but in the reset process, it crashed the semaphore routine of my drive... Normally I use linux, but on this single, one project, I have to use windows...

@linuxer4fun Yeah, but finding proper drivers for Linux is even worse! There's no good drivers for my Dell Latitude laptop! I don't say Windows is perfect, but it's not bad either! It's like choosing if I should cut my left or right leg off, but at least with one of they they give me denture, and with one they just say "ahh, you'll be fine"!

Done the same in the past. They both have problems but I understand how to fix them in Windows

It's built by developers. That's it's issue. No normal human would use it except tech savvy and even then it feels... Clunky no matter what you use.

It doesn't feel right...

And people say oh you'll get used to it! I'm sure I would... But why use something you have to get used to... It should fit in with what you do straight away not you work around it.

Perfect example blender... It's controls are backwards ... Compared to other 3d modelling tools that's what all of Linux feels like to me.

*Searches Web for 2 weeks only to find out, yet again, that no driver exists for my specific firmware/hardware combo of graphics card*
*Uninstalls Linux*
*Reinstalls Windows*
*Repeat 2 years later*
