vortex36138yEither use virtualbox or get a cheap run-of-the-mill laptop and get a light Linux distro on it.
-
je11zi4978yGet a virtual box or use a cloud service like Azure to host the Linux box for you and SSH in with putty. If you're a student you get free Azure credits too, so check it out.

brobotic188yYou're better off just running a Ubuntu(or whatever distribution) VM in VirtualBox. That way you don't void your warranty with Razer, so if there's ever a problem with it - you can still ship it back and have it repaired. Whereas if you remove Windows and install Linux, you're on your own. With VirtualBox, you can get your hands on Linux while maintaining your current Windows install.

That doesn't mean it won't work - that just means they won't help you if it doesn't.
-
Btw the reason I'm not doing virtual box is because of the horrendous input lag, and at that point I prefer windows

brobotic188y@Sniperman word. Still recommend VirtualBox. Linux distros don't require a ton of space, and you'll be up and running quicker.

@Sniperman Linux can run on any standard computer, the only reason that it could be an issue is if the keyboard or touchpad need a driver to work, but even then you could use external stuff. The graphics card won't work but there could very well be open source drivers for it.
If you're just partitioning your drive you shouldn't have a problem. A computer doesn't need special stuff to run Linux. Support just isn't allowed to tell you that you can use anything other than the pre-installed OS. -
@NathanDoesDev when I launch Ubuntu or mint, it just doesn't start. I get the loading icon, but it's also stuck on the third dot

Almost no computer manufacturer "supports" Linux. But, I'm sure people have done it. Look for other people with your hardware online. Also, try fedora or debian... (Or arch if your brave)

injexus18yWhich system are you working with? I'm running Gentoo on a 2016 14" Razer Blade laptop. Runs like a charm.
-
flag020318yTry disabling the descrete graphics or disabling nouveau. Getting the display drivers running is harder than getting broadcom wireless running. Other than that everything is almost plug and play these days.

I wanted to get Linux since I'm collaborating with my brother and he uses it, so it will be easier to help him. Wasn't working. Emailed Razer customer support. Apparently my $2,150 laptop doesn't support Linux.
