When you're sick of Arch Linux ability to brick your system and you try to install a more stable distro like Linux mint.

Ah, alt+ctrl+f2 only brings to a black screen, no console.

I'm running arch for ages without problem. I don't think the distro is the problem 😎

In the years of running Arch I have NEVER had it brick my system.

Ubu, Deb, fed, mint have all bricked my system but Arch I found was stable as fuck.

Protip: only install minimal stuff what you really need without gnome or KDE and you will be fine. :) I use i3 with a standard lightdm greeter. And utilising i3lock, Compton, Rofi for running tasks and switching workspaces.

Atom and Vim for code, Emacs Evilmode for agendas and to do :)

Roll your own, with gentoo as base for example , tar and gzip it, dump on next computer, repeat.
It's been years I've run an installer, no surprises this way

Most of mine run gentoo, just don't start from scratch, a lot easier this way :-)

@pchater LFS it's great for a learning experience, not too practical in a day to day base. Gentoo through USE it's great to define exactly what features software should use.
Not so great if you don't update it often, things break :-D

@Artemix nope. ubuntu is based on debian and it's the most stable distro i.e less or no troubles and easier to install and get help if needed

@Artemix well, they have disabled web search by default starting from 15:10 "i guess" and regarding the third party softwares , well, they are optional.

To those who wrote that their system never broke, good job.
But I like to play around with lots of stuff and not always I can get my system working again.
Ex. In the same day I got back to arch (Pacman + aur is unbeatable to me) and now a standard installation following step for step the guide as I already did 10 times doesn't work. Gdm keeps telling me he's sorry and my gnome-session won't start.

@pily Don't use GDM or Gnome :P

Use openbox(at least)/i3/lightdm <3

@pchater i'm trying to setup bspwm, I've seen some pretty good looking configs and I'm interested in it. I already use tilling on gnome.
