dfox426039yWe definitely want to do meetups! There was a possibility of a meetup in NYC at the end of May but things have been hectic so we have to see if we can still do that.
In the last version of the apps we added an announcement bar to the app that where we can show an announcement any time we want. We can use that to advertise any devRant meetups! If we don't do the first one at the end of May then we can try to to shortly after, but I'll see if maybe we can still make that one happen.
Is anyone who commented here in NYC? -
@dfox I work in NYC! So as long as metro north doesn't fuck up (that's a big if), I'm in.
Preferably a Tuesday or Thursday since I work from home Mon/Wed/Fri :-) -
@dfox cool. Only thing I would want to make sure is that it isn't crazy loud like some happy hours get. That way we could actually get convos going.
I don't know much about union square bars- the back room of The Ginger Man is really nice in midtown with couches and stuff but they don't take reservations. -
dfox426039y@Yankeesrule I agree! I'll definitely try to find a place that is good for talking. I like the ginger man but the times I've been there at least it gets really crowded.
Stout in midtown has a nice downstairs that's usually decently empty and quiet so I'm thinking that could maybe be good. -
@dfox definitely agree about the crowd. I'm kind of out of the NYC bar scene since I've had a kid so I'll trust you (or anyone else on here!) to pick a place.
Btw one place I remember that was a good atmosphere with board games a small outdoor garden area and dirt cheap drinks and food was dominies hoek.
... But it is one subway stop into Queens. 10 mins from midtown, but still Queens. -
Look it up. Could definitely work for this since the atmosphere is right and will be way less crowded than Manhattan. As long as you don't mind crossing the river.
-
dfox426039y@Yankeesrule thanks, will do. I'll try to get an idea of where most people are coming from. Queens might be a little hard to get to for some but we'll see, it's a possibility.
-
dfox426039y@znark912 we can definitely do a weekend one sometime, but I think that has to be more of a planned thing. The first one can just be after work on Thursday since most people who would come are already in the vicinity.
Wish you could make it though :/ On the invite page I'm putting 6:30 but I'm sure some of us will be there for a couple of hours. -
@dfox just to make sure- it is stout on 33rd, right? There's one by grand central and downtown also
-
@dfox cool see you soon! I can't stay long since my kid is sick but want to at least drop by for a little!
how about a dev rant meet up?
let's do this
