I started hating PHP after using various web frame works. Because I realized that PHP was never designed for half of the things we force it to do. Like I can't understand for life of me why someone would create a REST service with it.

Like it can do a lot of things, but I feel like it doesn't do any of them well. Also sometimes I feel developers (myself included) are afraid to try new things so they defend the language they are good at to avoid trying new ones.

That's why I don't like PHP. But don't let it stop you from loving it. I love Java even though so many hate it. I just know it so intimately I feel like it's my spouse.

I like PHP.
