They announced it quite some time ago. But yeah, don't trust a google service that compete with search or youtub.

Nonoo.. they don’t WANT to merge... They HAVE to. Because they were too
Dominant. -
Google does that all the time, so it's not really surprising. If all you want is offline playback just install VLC or something.

kamen69254yEven though I feel the same way as you, I'm sure Google has a very clear picture of how much any given product of theirs is used; after all user tracking is at the core of their business. So if they decide to pull the plug of something, it's either 1) not used by a lot of people, or 2) not bringing enough revenue *ahem* Inbox *ahem*

Also org.lineageos.eleven is just 3 MB, so that may be a good alternative for offline music playback.

Parzi86634yuh...? I have it disabled (inaccessible, rolled back to version in /system/app, data cleared, and its /data folder compressed) without root. I know some phones only "disable" them by hiding the app in whatever home screen, but this is uncommon from what i've seen?
just use VLC and youtube-dl.
Google can you fucking not just kill off random projects that still have a very active userbase!!!
I know you want to merge the play music streaming with youtube music. But that is no reason to kill off the default music player on Android. Cause, y'know, A FUCKTONNE OF PPL STILL USE OFFLINE MUSIC!!!!
And to add more insult to this, Play Music is a default app on pretty much all Android phones. This means it cannot be uninstalled at all. (Unless you root) So thanks for the waste of space!!!
