I graduated last weekend. Walked in the commencement ceremony, took pictures, posted a !rant here, the whole 9 yards. Then what happens? I get an email from the dean of the engineering college at my university stating that my degree check was done incorrectly and that I am 3 credit-hours short of graduating, it is too late to sign up for an intersession course, and there are now 3 credit-hour courses offered as 8-weel courses. So here I am, with two Job interviews coming up, without my degree, wondering why the hell I found all this out A WEEK AFTER I "Graduated"! DA FUCK!!!!!

Correction: There are NO 3 credit-hour 8-week courses.

Ok but ... Is this real world or just a parody?
How could they even think of sending you that email telling you that basically THEY did a huge mistake, because, correct me if i'm wrong, but checking credits count is THEIR job, not yours.
And besides that, you graduated! They held a ceremony with whistles and bells, hats thrown in the air, what does it even mean that now, for 3 points, you have to find a random exam, follow it with great interest and motivation, pass the exam ...
And then? Will you be double graduated? Will they celebrate another time?
Sorry for this long comment but I've been through something similar back when I was in college and that's why can't help but sympathize with your situation.

To be fair, you should always keep abreast of your progress in the degree. That final audit is just a formality

@jlave215 That's the thing though, I DID keep up with my own progress. As far as I was concerned, and as far as my Advisor was concerned, I was done. What ended up happening was that they failed to inform us about a rule, and then chose to cite said rule that no one was aware of, which kept me from graduating.

So are they withholding your diploma? I would say you wouldn't be lying if you said you did in fact graduate in those interviews, but it could be a problem if they do a check and the college says otherwise.

@gjack905 I explained the situation to the recruiter of one company, and they said they wanted to finish the interview process first, then we could discuss my situation. The other company is now offering me an internship until I finish my last class. So it's not turning out too badly for now. (:
