the real awnser is... "they both become useless as soon as you open windows" but close enough

@linuxer4fun I don't think so but I never pulled the chip from one to check. most of the air conditioners I've seen use a custom assembly program to work

@linuxer4fun not if you are working with very limited memory constraints. air conditioners wouldn't require much since all it needs to do is read data from sensors and pass it to a thermostat, which the last three I looked at just used a resistance based sensor which the smart thermostats are overkill on since the hardware based ones would work the same just without being able to be set from your phone.
