Got rejected in interview for Web developer... Interviewer showed company website and asked if it's made in html or WordPress... I said html which was wrong...

Am I incompetent? How can I predict the platform just by looking at UI...?

You can always use "buildwith" to check the platform and any other details.

You should have told them that no one can predict looking at ui..

Builtwith if you want to use a tool to check, or check source and look for references to the wp-content directory

@Voxera It generates very ugly html :P. You are correct however if I was being pedantic I would've challenged the guy and got him with a technicality of the output of WordPress is HTML, but PHP is doing the work as Wordpress is nothing but a third party tool for lazy people.
