War thunder works great, they recently fixed the last freezes. CS:GO runs significantly worse than on Windows, but it's absolutely playable. Games that don't rely as much on graphics are faster than on Windows (My ridiculous KSP metal monsters benefit a lot from an OS that just does its job). Also since AAA titles don't tend to work, I got to know a lot of great indie games that I simply would've missed otherwise.

Steam and Lutrius make wonders, but I don't play that many AAA games. The sims for my fiance works (with a little bit pain), but other games work just fine. Plus extra money spend otherwise for OS goes for hardware

I wouldn't mind developing games exclusively for linux (because fuck that psychopath bill gates).

Whatever gets more people off windows.

I’ve had very little difficulty, if I’m honest.

There were a few titles I couldn’t play; almost everything else worked very well or flawlessly.

Honestly, I’ve had more trouble playing games on emulators like project64, Dolphin, etc. Most games on those have significant problems.

@Wisecrack Take a look at Godot, it isn't Linux-only but it is Linux-first and it will be a great engine as soon as the new scripting language update comes out.

@homo-lorens Godot sounds good but my opengl support is ancient so it doesnt run.

Would just build my own in love (and started to), but as the saying goes "you want to make a game or a game engine?"

I'm a hobbyist so I just stuck with GM. Lost a lot of its stigma anyway, and its actually half decent now. Rather not reinvent the wheel.

Maybe I'll check Godot out later on down the line though, thanks.

The number of games I play that don't run on Linux recently dropped into the single-digit range. Almost entirely due to anticheat/DRM instead of actual game compatibility issues.

@EmberQuill Soon we'll get to a point where the only reason games don't work on Linux will be that they try to lock down the client. At that point, games can take pride in being Linux-compatible, it being purely a matter of openness and not extra effort.

I gave up to GoL... I won't waste my time troubleshooting.
This is not Linux's fault though I know that. Work wise, Linux is my weapon of choice.
