Site live for over 8 months, client contacts me saying a web form is not working. Check through code missing $ on a variable. Shit, it must never have worked. Checked through error logs and sure enough its been bust since it went live. I changed the variable to pull in their email address rather than mine when i pushed it live and missed off the $. Trying to think of a plausible and client friendly excuse.

You could tell them you had dollar's problem ?

The budget had a one dollar deficit?

Accidentally pushed your almost done version instead of the prefect one and didn't notice the difference?

Yikes and they realized it after 8 months. Sad, but sort of funny in a way.

Something became broken in the newest version of the browser so you had to make a change. You hate it when they make these kind of tweaks to a browser but there's not really anything you can do.

    Damn them!

IMO I'd suck it up and just tell them I made a mistake.

I just fixed it and sent an email saying "it's working now", no excuse nothing. In the end they just wanted it to work, so I didn't need to lie. Thanks all for your input though.👍🏼
