@liammartens I heard that ATMs are the reason why Windows 3.1 still has a large install base.

jerjer3979y@caillou the whole or a major part of the industry runs on windows within its own forest and SSL or IPSec encryption, they even had a special contract with microsoft for extending their support on windows xp
There's an endless discussion over the security of these things.. Last atm prototypes includes an iris scanner.
Skimmers made me paranoid for quite some time.. I now check every cash withdrawal for loose parts. (Better safe than sorry)

Wow, that’s a weird (and slightly terrifying) glitch — sounds like the ATM totally lost track of reality. Definitely report it to your bank ASAP and get a written confirmation that your account wasn't debited. Also, if possible, snap a quick photo or video if something like that happens again — it can help when dealing with support. Banks usually track ATM logs pretty closely, so they should be able to verify what went wrong. And yeah, always check your balance right after — those "non-dispensing" errors can sometimes still charge you. Tech fails in the most inconvenient ways!
