Not everyone is familiar with the difference. Take the chance to educate. I usually download Git for Windows and it installs all you need to sudo all the way. It's easier than fight with Cygwin, but you can go that way too.

My go to tool is now Babun. It gives a self-contained, pre-configured cygwin, with built-in package manager. I also recommend understanding how operating systems differ.
