The native apps are built using javascript?

    Yup. Write once, crash everywhere.

So the mobile apps being native is indeed a myth... Unless there's no webview or web code left after compilation or this page is outdated.

@Berkmann18 who keeps saying their native? 🤯 It's like calling flutter native ☺️
  • 6
I'm more triggered by php apparently never being the source of issues...
  • 2
@C0D4 at least flutter comes closer than javascript "native" hehe
  • 2
    @C0D4 OmerFlame did on https://devrant.com/rants/3638894/...

At least Flutter is the cross-platform native camp compared to others in the hybrid app camp.

@AlmondSauce I mean what did you expect? PHP is a very nice language that people give way more hate than it deserves...

@FinlayDaG33k Sure, but claiming it's *never* the source of issues?! That's highly egotistical at best, and obviously not true - for any language, let alone PHP.

I expect a vague smidge of honesty at least.

@AlmondSauce Well tbf... I never have any issues that are due to PHP, only due to my own incompetence...

@FinlayDaG33k I don't have any issues with my Ford. That doesn't mean they never break down.
  • 2
@AlmondSauce Well... I know more people that never have any issues that can be attributed to PHP as opposed to their own incompetence...

Well... actually... I don't know anyone that gets issues because of PHP itself...

PHP does have some odd quirks, but those only really show when the dev is incompetent.

@AlmondSauce probably meant "has never been the source of issues for devRant" as a precaution against people flaming them for using php.

@RememberMe Sure, that I can get behind. But I certainly can't back any language as never being the source of an issue 😉

@Tayo next emoji code will be native with that logic.

@Berkmann18 that was about @OmerFlames unofficial app not devRants official app.

@AlmondSauce I won't say it hasn't been the source of issues, but it's highly more likely to be the devs fault the the language.

@C0D4 Are you sure? The OP was about the actual app, OmerFlame chimed in because he reversed engineered it.

@C0D4, In any case, some people seem to think the mobile apps are native and even claiming the iOS app is programmed in Swift (not just from the rant, I posted but I can't recall which other ones other than the fact it was brought up in rants about iOS crashes).

"native" is really a subjective term, like a lot of things in Computer Science
  • 0
@AlmondSauce well, PHP rarely is the source of issues in my experience... well, ever. Won’t say it’s not possible, but unheard of.

    JavaScript: the mother tongue ☺️🥲
