I'd suggest launching the application store from the terminal, that way you'll see possible error messages
Or just install in the command line directly, which I personally prefer anyway -

Tonnoman6264yThis is a problem of Ubuntu or the maker of the app store. The Linux kernel is stable af. To get a full stable af system you need a stable af distro. For me it's been opensuse tumbleweed.

Installed Ubunut 20 on my laptop (Thinkpad). It cannot open the App Store (with A letter on it). Imagine building a system, marking it as stable (long-term-support) and shipping it in such state that it is unable to launch the default (pre-installed!) app-store. This is Linux for you.
Updated the system; still cannot start the freaking appstore.
